Epstein-Barr Virus Persistence & Lymphoid Tumours
T Cell responses to cytomegalovirus & Epstein-Barr Virus
Alan Rickinson's group work on the biology and immunology of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and its associated tumours. One aspect of the work focuses on the regulation of EBV latent gene expression in B lymphocytes both in vitro and in vivo, and on the different forms of virus latency displayed in virus-positive B cell malignancies. Another aspect concerns the analysis of T cell immune responses to EBV infection, both as a general model for human T cell control of a persistent virus and as a means of developing immunotherapy for EBV-postive tumours; this has close links with the groups of Paul Moss, Steve Lee and Neil Steven
