Research

Professor Paul Moss runs the academic Haematology Unit at the University of Birmingham.

His major research interest is in immuno-haematology. Specifically, there is an active programme investigating the immunology of allogeneic stem cell transplantation and the major aims are to develop methods to boost the graft-versus-leukaemia effect and also to use antigen-specific T cells to correct immunodeficiency against viruses such as cytomegalovirus. In order to address the latter point the research team has a general interest in the immunology of cytomegalovirus in healthy, immunocompetent donors.

Professor Moss's clinical interest is in B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and the B-CLL research group includes a longstanding collaboration with Dr Tanja Stankovic on the role of DNA repair gene mutations in the pathogenesis of this disease.
